The number of young employees clasp the shorter working week and has cracked the salary man's habit of leaving the office after their employers leave. As the age of workers is younger, their working hours is shorter; however, the old work culture seems to continue among workaholic seniors. According to a statistic based on mobile data released in early October, 1.16 million wage earners between 25 and 55 in Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi Province showed that people in their 50s worked the longest at 10 hours and 42 minutes a day, 40s with 10 hours and 30 minutes, 30s with 10 hours and 24 minutes and those in their 20s with 10 hours and 18 minutes respectively. The sociability of older workers after office hours were not included. Not long ago, the Korean cultural office was militaristic with a severe mayhem rule, demanding hours and obliged after work meeting that workers skip out on.
Under other conditions, it is now being modified. According to a 24-year-old office worker, they were authorized to decide about the time they go to work and go home forasmuch as they follow the mandatory 40 hours a week working time which means they no longer have to spend time in the office while waiting for their superiors to go home. As of now, men still work longer for 10 hours and 42 minutes a day while women work 10 hours and 12 minutes probably for the reason that they have to look after their children. In addition to that, younger employees have to travel farther. People in their 20s spent 51 minutes traveling back and forth while those who are in their 30s -49 minutes; 40s-47 minutes; and those in their 50s-42 minutes. The statistics also said that older workers can afford to live near their office since they are financially stable.
